Stop Swap and Roll - Product Swap and Giveaway

I'm so excited to bring you today's post.  I'm participating in my first ever product swap.

Janet from Fishyrobb and I were partners.  You can find her blog below.  Make sure you head over there so you can see my product in action and enter to win it!

Teacher Times Two

I had trouble picking just one product from her store to try.  She has so many wonderful products that would work for my students!

I finally decided on her Text Dependent Questions For Close Reading.

The description of this product on TpT is:
This is a set of 16 text-dependent question cards to encourage close reading of narrative text. These questions are written so they can be used with many different pieces of narrative literature. You can use them as think-aloud prompts for class discussion or as task cards for writing to text.
Also included are two guided writing activities for writing to the text. They go along with two of the question cards and can be used as extension activities or visual guides for students who need extra support.
I think that these cards are perfect for any book.  Students have to revisit the text in order to answer the questions.  Once you introduce the cards, you could put them in a center for students to use independently.

I printed out the cards, backed them on construction paper, and laminated them for future use.

We were working on problem and solution, so the question above fit perfectly for my group.  I also used the worksheets included in the product to help my students understand how to thoroughly answer the question.

Before the students wrote their answers, they talked about the question with a partner.  Then they wrote their answers on their dot (see my post on wall pops).

After they wrote the answer on their dot, I had them copy it over to the paper so I could keep it for a grade.  The dot was similar to a rough draft because they got their thoughts down and were able to fix mistakes before writing it on the paper.

I love this product and I'm so fortunate to have gotten it by participating in this product swap.  You can win a copy by entering the giveaway below.
